How do I change the drawer slides in my kitchen to open all the way?

My drawers are the conventional style that do not pull out all the way. The new drawers pull out all the way so you can see what is at the back of the drawer. Can I buy new slides to install and how difficult is it to line them up?

look to see what you have side slides or center slide take a drawer out, empty its contents and go to home depot what ever, and get the correct length BUT if its a center one attached in the back of the cabinet with a plastic stapled in thing, its going to try your patience. I have spent days on one cabinet with 5 drawers - they still are not right and I regret trying, but like you, I want to see what is in back.

@Irene Take a look at the KV8400 and KV8455 Sidemount drawer slides. The 8400 is a full extension slide, which is precisely what you are searching for. The 8455 features a 1" over travel. In other words it extends out 1" past the cabinet face for those hard to reach drawers. Hope this helps

If you have the side mounted slides you can get full extension slides to replace them. Go to Lowe's or home depot and look at the euro slides and make sure you get full extension. These should be a direct replacement for the ones you have.

Sorry I only have 1942 year drawers and can only pull them right out to clean drawers each. I did happen to find handles matching what was on pantry door to use on rest of kitchen. Scratched paint off pantry handle. Could not get paint off metal part though. That is how close I got to your question.

More modern factory made drawers I think have clips to unlock drawer to make full out. I have old wood drawers so mine come right out.

Will the new slides install directly where the old slides are without any issues?
