Pallet Wood Christmas Tree Diy

Last week I shared with you my Christmas tree which doubles as an advent calendar. (http://scavengerchic.com/2015/11/15/wood-christmas-tree-and-advent-calendar/) That one was 6 feet tall, but if you don't want a tree quite that large and if you like working with pallet wood then this might be the tree for you.
Gather up your wood supplies. This tree uses 5 of the longer pallet pieces (4 of the wider thickness, and one narrower, about 37″ long) for the backing, a few pieces of wood for cross bracing (could have also used pallet wood here, but I had bought this for another project and never used it) and 13 pieces of scrap pallet wood, no longer than about 13″.
Cut 3 pieces of wood for your cross braces for the back, slightly shorter than the width of the back, and nail or screw into place. Great time to use a nail gun if you have one.
The backing is white washed with a mixture of paint and water.
Time to start cutting the tree. One end of each of the tree pieces were cut with a miter saw set at 30 degrees, the other end is a straight cut.
Most of the tree pieces were 13 inches long with a couple of shorter pieces at the top and one at the bottom.
The pallet wood was quickly attached with finishing nails.

The ornaments were attached with just a simple finishing nail angled upwards. These can easily be swapped out or removed for storage at the end of the season.

The trunk is yet another piece of pallet wood. Super easy and if you already have the nails and paint...FREE!!

Still want to see the advent/Christmas tree, or if you'd like to see more pictures I'd love for you to stop by.
