we paint our keys with polish, too. Have used old dryer sheets to dust with and also to wipe down the top of the dryer when it gets lint on it. I use vaseline on my shoes to shine them up.

I have used toothpaste to fill tiny holes in the wall. You can use it to take scratches out of painted finishes if they are not too deep. All our lotion bottles that are nearly out go to the shop where I cut them open and use it on my hands after I clean up after painting etc. It doesn't matter that they are different brands. I wish I knew what to do with old tape!

You didn't mention bar soap but I keep a hotel size bar in my tool box and when I'm putting screws in something, run the threads over the dry bar of soap and they screw in smoothly.

Mary, that's a good one. I use what is left of candle wax to assist in driving them in. And we all know how soap makes cabinet and dresser drawers slide better.
