Here is a garden shed I built that my wife convinced me should be a TIKI Bar. The project spun way out of control as you can see. Like most projects it began out of necessity. It turned out to be quite fun as we were always coming up with new ideas for add ons. It has become a wonderful outdoor living space for relaxing & entertaining. I apologize for the lack of photos during construction and promise to do better in future posts. The figures on this project may not apply to you. I worked on my own and adress only the shed/bar itself. Not the deck, paving, plants, etc. I had some materials on hand so was not out of pocket for the full amount. It was not a difficult project however you do need carpentry skills and tools.
Sadly I did not take photos showing where I leveled the ground- placed gravel then concrete blocks to set my floor joists on. It is 4'x10' has a slanted roof of tin and a ceiling height of 7'.
When building something like this just think of a big box. Framework was 2x4 PT lumber siding T-111. I used PT 3/4" plywood for the flooring which is okay for the interior, not the porch. That should have been PT decking.
The bar which is a 2 seater has a swing up door with slide bolts inside for security. I made the doorframe from 2x4s and covered it in the same siding. It has a slide bolt and padlock hasp. We added more decking to gain space.
Posts and a repurposed rope was used for railing. A bench, signs and do dads were added as we went along. I Worked with the existing earth to create plant beds.
This view is from the hut's deck. As I said it just went on and on! I will post some info about laying the paving stones in the future.
So here it is some time later. Weathered in and looking like it has always been there. You can see the flip up bar window is closed here.
Winter of 2010- Not a fun place in winter!
Brrrrrrrr
But spring is always around the corner.
We are back in Nashville for a bit so I had access to the other photos I had- here they are.
This is what I meant about the project going on and on.
She wanted to grow some grapes.
I must say the wife had a vision that was a good one!
We love spending time out here.
It had just rained.
Don't you love the way things look so clean and clear after a rain?
When cleaned and trimmed it is a good looking area.
It looks good in the summer months.
