What's the best type of paint to use on upholstered furniture?

I want to paint a blue and white checkered lazy boy rocker. What paint is best?

Thats going to depend on the look you are trying to achieve. You can use fabric paint or create colors out of chaulk paint.

A friend of mine used diluted chalk paint on the fabric of a chair. Spray the fabric lightly with water to help paint absorb. Brush on the chalk paint and sand after each coat. May take 2-3 coats. Finish with a past wax sealer and sanding. It will have a leather-like feel. Annie Sloan is a great but expensive brand. My friend used some from Home Depot I believe. --- Hope it turns out well!

I have painted a number if upholstered prices! In all cases I have just used regular latex paint! Sometimes I might water it down a little! The end result usually is a little stiffer fabric but I have been using these pieces for years after with no problems! In fact, if a stain or mark turns up all you have to do is touch it up again! I love this method to save old pieces!

I used a quart of acrylic paint and 2 (8 oz) fabric size. I painted a love seat came out perfect

Painting fabric, gives you a stiff feeling. If the issue is that you don't like the color of the fabric on the chair, you can get a slip cover for it or even reupholster it.

I used flat paint & just a regular brush! And yes just got in crevices as best I could! Good luck! Let me know how your project turns out!
