A couple of questions first. Where are you going to use the piece? Do you want to paint it?Will this piece be with other furniture?

@Janet Pizaro That was going to be my frist question too! I love it! I like the idea of doing something to the top of it like a stencil, or a vintage type poster that is decopaged onto it...this pic is an example:

I hope whomever put that at the curb was waiting for someone to take it, it is a great find. What about refinishing the top and staining it then paint the amazing legs.

I agree! Awesome piece of furniture! Very exciting. Thanks, that's a great suggestion!

That is am AMAZING find!! I wished my neighbors would "toss out" such gorgeous pieces!! As for finishing, have you considered gold or silver leafing the table? It would take some time & effort but that style would look incredible metal leafed. Or you could paint it with antique white chalkboard paint & use a metal leafing paint pen to color/paint the recessed areas.

Thank you so much!! Actually I hadn't thought of leafing it which surprises me as I love silver leafing so much! I agree! It would look amazing on this piece. :)

You should try the DecoArt paint in the gloss finish. They sell it at Michaels and you can use a coupon. I heard it goes on really easy and the high gloss finish is really elegant.

Here are two similar tables I just refinished. You can see the makeovers at http://entriwp.com.

it's stunning!!!! the detail is gorgeous! I know a little different but I'm thinking outside the box...LOL this would make a beautiful vanity for a powder room.... one of those small round glass bowls with old fashioned taps. Treat the top for protection. Paint the legs white (possibly aged look) and then a turquoise top.

If you like the color that it is....I would leave it alone. Great looking table.

I'd mount a mirror on the back of it lengthwise & find 2 end tables similar in color but shorter for each of the short sides & use it as a vanity. :)

I like both Shanna and Lisa's ideas, but it all depends in which room you intend to use it. I personally would either leave it as it is, or go for a metallic finish. Its a stunning find, you must have done such a 'happy dance' when you saw it!

Leave it as is. Rustic rules! I like the distressed look. Great find!

sure do like, very very much as is. You could paint the top an other colour that you have touches of in the room you intend it for!

Paint the top and edge black or have a piece of marble or granite cut to fit the top (not the top edge). Make a pattern out of paper and take it to a stone seller. Sit a beautiful bowl of greenery on it.

Beautiful table. I can't believe someone put that curbside. I'd leave the legs the way they are and sand, stain and poly the top. Nice find!

You are so lucky to find that on the curb, wish I could find something like that, I would use chalk paint and the wax on it, there are so many beautiful colors, you can check it out on line and find all sorts of ideas, Good luck. Diana

Thanks so much for your suggestion! I definitely will have a look. And to everyone else that took the tim to send suggestions, I really appreciate it. Sometimes you just get stuck in a rut with too many ideas, ( or at least I do, at times!) and then it's hard to decide.... Definitely got the creativity going now!! Thanks again everybody!! Merry Christmas!

Would make a great hall/entry table with a mirror or picture over it. You could hang a wreath over the mirror for Christmas. I have found great "things" at the curb myself over the years. Five chairs, tiger oak, in the garbage, worth $400 a piece, after refinished. Can you believe that?

That's incredible!!:):) :) gotta love when someone is thoughtful enough to make things available for others when they're just going to send it to the dump otherwise. Your suggestion sounds excellent as well!! Thank you!

It would also make a great TV stand!?

I think this is a beautiful find. It looks good as is but maybe do something with the top? I can't add to previous ideas but if you really wanted to do some thing really different and have children I think making it a whimsical item along the lines of Dr Suess would look great in a child's room. (Some people would be horrified at the thought of 'ruining' such a beautiful table). But hey! It would be such a unique item and certainly bring a lot of comments.

Great idea! I love adding humor into my projects! Thank you!

OMG, why can't I ever find anything great like this?! I would spruce up the paint on the legs, then sand down the top to bare wood and stain it a color to match your other furniture.

If the top is several pieces of wood use wood filler to fill the cracks and decoupage sheet music. Or, you can paste some plain paper over the cracks, and then decoupage with a pattern of something you like.. I like sheet music.

Harlequin diamond shape black and white on the top leave the legs .
