A Canadian Prairie Christmas: Our 2015 Christmas Home Tour

I LOVE Christmas, and I adore decorating our country home for the holidays. This year, I took a little inspiration from Nordic Christmas decor, put my own spin on it, and came up with this cozy prairie Christmas theme for our home.
We built our home in 2013 and you can read more about this challenging and fun journey on my blog. We live in Alberta, Canada - we get lots of snow!
Our porch is decorated simply with some faux greens, wreaths on the windows, and DIY plaid blanket scarf for a throw.
In the entry, I've draped a cedar and pine garland over an antique window we have mounted on the wall.
Our living room is decorated with festive throw pillows and a colourful flocked Christmas tree.
I've used ornaments in teal, turquoise, silver, red and gold on our tree as well as pom pom trim for a garland.
Our mantel decor is mostly neutral and it features DIY stockings that I made last year (the full pattern and tutorial is on my blog), DIY coffee filter trees, bottle brush trees, and some custom art I made (that you can download for free on my blog).
We also have an advent calendar made from a door, some tags and some ornaments in our living room. My daughters like to hang an ornament up on the tree every day in December until Christmas Day.
In the kitchen, I've sewn festive new drapes in red & white plaid, and I love hanging little wreaths on the cupboard doors for Christmas.
Our Christmas table setting is simple and Nordic inspired in black, white and red.
I've made the chargers out of paper (you can download the artwork for free on my blog) and adorned each place with faux berries, DIY pom pom napkins and a gingerbread cookie.
Up in our bedroom, I've pulled out all of our cozy winter textiles like our flannel plaid sheets, a linen duvet cover, and a soft sheepskin rug.
I hope you enjoyed our Canadian prairie Christmas home tour! Please come visit my tour on my blog for tons more photos, DIY tutorials, styling tips, and free Christmas downloads!
