Cold Cat Garage Bed

My silly cat loves the unheated garage and we can't get him to come in so I made him a Cold Cat bed.
Large storage tub
2 men's zip up hoodies
1 man's winter jacket
1 bed pillow
Kitty's favorite fleece blanket
Emergency blanket
Safety pins
Packing tape
Begin by zipping the two hoodies together around the tub. Safety pin them tightly together at the bottom of the tub. Pull the sleeves in side the jackets.
Wrap the pillow inside the winter jacket, zip up and safety pin so it completely wraps the pillow.
Wrap the pillow up in the emergency blanket and use packing tape to fasten, like a gift.
Wrap and fasten with safety pins the fleece blanket around the pillow.
Place the pillow in the tub. Tie the hoods together on each side to make an opening into the bed. Then safety pin the hoods to the jackets.
I rolled up an old rug and put the bed on it so the bed isn't sitting on the cold concrete and l put another on top. Now the silly cat can be warm as toast.

Why make a warm bed when the cat likes the cold? My cat also loved the cold garage, has a warm bed but will not use it.

When I researched making a shelter for my feral cat, it recommended straw for bedding, and lining the tub with either foam resin insulation panels or that mylar bubble wrap to reflect their body heat back to them. So I used an old car shade and brought one new one to line the tub, cut a 7" hole entry hole, filed the tub with straw which is evidently the only material if they are wet that will help them dry off. She used it all winter and still find her on rainy days takin her nap before dinner.

This is a great idea. I wish my Mother had done this for my cat when I was a little girl. I begged to let him in, but she wouldn't allow it. He froze to death one night...in the garage. Then she said she would have let him in if she'd known that would happen.

You should share your story on all sites from facebook to animal sites bc people for some reason donot believe cats and dogs can freeze to death. Rule of thumb if it is too cold for you outside it is too cold for them. Bring them in. I am so sorry you had to experience that, you feel helpless when you are a kid and you know you are right. I know that haunts you and will for life.
