Hometalk DIY Spring topiary inspiration!!!

Alright so Hometalk has become a huge addiction for me. There is not oneday that goes by that I don't check in on the website at least once.

I have been really liking all the "spring" decorating ideas. I decided to go to a local thrift shop (something I just never do...but that is a story for a different day) looking for anything that I could use to repurose into a "springy" idea for my house. This is the result: (sorry I have to look into getting a blog)
Finished project.
This is how it started out...the treasure from my thrifty treasure hunt.
I had to buy all of the other supplies, but I got them all for 40-50% off last weekend at JoAnn's.

Stones to weight down the pot and to help hold the topiary upright.
Dry run to make sure that all items are proportionally right.
Got my hi-tech paint booth ready.
This item had a bright brass finish on it. I sanded it down with steel wool and then painted it a very light green gloss.
Next came the flower pot...painted a flat white.
Cut the flowers that you are going to use off from the stems.
Start placing the flowers in the boxwood ball until you are satisfied with the placement. I did not glue these in place....I was thinking that I wanted to beable to change the topiary for the seasons.
Looking good....almost done.
I decided that the plain white pot needed some embellishment. I had the hand dyed silk ribbon on hand and then added the little star button.
The top was finished with a couple of dragonflies that I mounted on a piece of bullion wire....again I did not actually glue these on, but rather just buried the wire into the ball.
