Christmas Stockings Made From Old Sweaters

As I was pulling out the Christmas decorations this year, I decided that it was time for new Christmas stockings. Our family has grown over the years through marriages and new babies and it bothered the blogger in me to not have matching or co-ordinating stockings ; ) ‪#‎homeforchristmas‬
It's hard to believe that this pretty, cable knit stocking was made from an old sweater!
To get started, I headed to my new local thrift store and bought a pile of red and green sweaters.
I also made a quick stop at the fabric store for some furry trim fabric.
I also needed to get thread and lining fabric.
A pattern was made simply by tracing an old stocking.
I used that pattern to cut both the lining fabric and the sweater pieces.
After the lining was sewn to both stocking pieces, I stitched them together with "right sides facing".
Make the cuff by sewing a strip of furry fabric to the top inside edge of the stocking.
