Headboard to Bench

I find quite a few full size headboards when I'm looking for antique furniture. It's not a very popular frame size anymore but some of them are just too hard to say no to. I love using my hubby's awesome carpentry skills to repurpose them as benches. I knew this particular headboard/foot board combo would be beautiful repurposed.
Before. I always try to use as much of the frame as possible. The back is the headboard, the sides the foot board, and the front is one of the side rails with the appliqué from the footboard. I adore the curvy footboard as the sides (although he had to do some master engineering to get it to fit without looking funny).
After. I wanted to keep the finished bench simple and neutral to showcase all those lovely details. This was painted in Rustoleum's chalk paint and sealed with Varathane.
I love this french style burlap and lined it with muslin so the foam underneath wouldn't show.
A pretty paper detail for the inset. It's subtle but adds a bit of interest to all that white. I love the distressing on this piece.
The beading and other small details are beautiful.

I love it, love it, love it! It is gorgeous! Are you keeping it or selling it? Just curious, it is so pretty I would have to keep this one.

I have a king size padded fabric headboard with the solid wood footboard that I think would make a great couch/bench. How did you attach the headboard back to the seated part? I'm going to use the footboard as the seating part and maybe have no arms. how to attach the two?
