Our 2015 Christmas Great Room

Welcome to our Christmas great room, dressed in lots of classic red, green and white.
I sound like a broken record when I say how much I love our white Ektorp sofa ... it's the perfect backdrop for any seasonal colors you choose!
Our simple mantel echoes the colors around the room ... and shows how much I'm loving plaid this year ... the cute stockings are from the Dollar Store and the banner is from Target ... love inexpensive decor!
Here you'll see one of our Christmas trees, which I decorated in lots of festive colors.
BEFORE: now, over on this wall, here is the "before" ... while I love our buffet, it just seemed to get lost a bit on the long wall ...
AFTER: Ta Da!!! IKEA to rescue again! We filled up the wall with their Billy bookcases and gave them a few additions of molding, knobs and thicker looking shelves to make them look a bit "beefier" and more custom.
We're really enjoying the new addition, and, of course, I love having more shelf space for "stuff!"
This year, garland resting on curtains rods replaced wreaths I usually add to the windows.
And, there ya' have it ... our little Christmas great room "all aglow," Happy Holidays!

  • Hello!! I absolutely love your decorating style. Gathering some great ideas. I did have a question on the IKEA Billy bookcases. I noticed that your bookcases have doors on the bottom half. I think I found something similar called Billy Oxberg, but the doors seem to go all the way up with glass at the top. Is that the ones you bought? Then I was also wondering if you took out the bookshelves where the screen is placed? Thank you in advance! http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S7... Bre

I love your decorating style. So pretty and elegant, but still accessible. Unlike a lot of decorators' homes, this one looks like somewhere you might actually be invited to come in and take a seat on the comfy (pretty) couch. Do you have a blog? I would love to follow, if you do.
