We are looking for an energy efficient sliding patio door pet panel. I've looked at the Endura Flap by Patio Pacific.

Dan's of Central Florida, Inc. on Dec 28, 2011Donna, there's a few of them out there such as the brands Thermo Panel and Ideal Pet Products. They are pretty expensive though. Expect to pay somewhere around $300 - $400 for one.Helpful Reply

Donna McCrummen on Dec 28, 2011That's what I figured but worth it if they perform better than the cheapo Petco doors. I have an electronic one but it opens every time Eno gets near it, funny but too cold up here in Jersey.Helpful Reply

Meri C on Dec 28, 2011I had my handyman put on in for me. He cut through the wall and lined it with scrap 2x4 wood and installed the door on the inside of the wall, then we used a piece of rubber to cover the outside so that when the dogs came in and out, they went through two pieces of rubber covering. The rubber has to be heavy enough to flap closed again, but the dogs got the hang of it pretty quickly. Also, I had a metal sliding door I could slide in when they were in the house for extended periods of time so all my warm air didn't escape! I just used a standard commercial pet door that I got off of craigslist.org. I hope this helps.Helpful Reply

Sherrie S on Dec 28, 2011Donna, Petco, handyman etc., can't come close to what you want for Eno. I would give you a personnal recommendation if you want it. Heavy rubber is too hard on a small dog. I am not an expert - I just think you may want another option so look at the site and call them if you need information. Look at http://www.halepetdoor.com/products.htmlHelpful Reply

Donna McCrummen on Dec 28, 2011Sherrie thanks for the link. They sound great and make one specifically for Anderson doors but...... $900+ is more than I want to spend. Yikes.Helpful Reply

Sherrie S on Dec 28, 2011Donna, I did not pay 900+ to put my dog door into a beautiful Anderson door. Instead I had an opening cut into an area in the back of my house (through cement block) and installed the door there. The cost was far less and the door does not detract from my nice doors. I do love Anderson doors. You're welcom Eno.Helpful Reply

Andrew P on Dec 28, 2011We had a Plexidor glass mount pet door installed into our patio door glass. It is great with no drafts, it's the most energy efficient we could find and I think the company that sells the door is Pet Access Solutions and they were great and helped us with our local glass shop to get it done . Good money well spentHelpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Dec 28, 2011Donna, I would suggest that you consider going through the wall instead of the door. It is much easier to repair a hole in the wall then it is in a door should you decide to take it out. Also a dog crate can be placed in front of it during the warmer months so the dog can come in and out without walking all over the house with dirty paws. You cannot do this in a door as it ends up blocking it.Helpful Reply

Andrew P on Dec 29, 2011The system we got from pet access does not block our door and we kept our original glass that we can have put back in when we move, so no wall or door repairsHelpful Reply

Donna McCrummen on Dec 29, 2011The door has to go into the sliding patio door. There is no wall space available that leads outside. I'll check out Pet Access too. Thank you all.Helpful Reply
