Reuse an Old Coffee Can as Christmas Decor

This project is actually one of my mom's ideas. She made about 20 of these to decorate her company's office and every year she brings them out, adds a poinsettia plant, and adds some Christmas spirit at work. I love the idea and it's right up my upcycling alley (I wonder where I get it from...) so I set out to make my own - using items I already had at my house. Please visit the link at the bottom of this post for the complete tutorial. Thank you!!
I'll admit, this isn't the exact coffee can I used. I forgot to take a before picture, but this can holds some random nails in my garage, and could definitely be used as a "Santa can"...if I found another place to put those nails.
Spray paint the can with red, and then add a thin line of glue and glitter.
I cut a belt down to size and hot glued it to the can in a few spots.

You could add a small pine tree, or a poinsettia plant like my mom. I took some of the cut offs from our tree this year and some berries to create a little arrangement for our table. I think these could also work as vases for flowers, or as simple hostess gifts.

I have a ton of other upcycled and reused holiday decorations and projects over at my blog. I'd love for you to stop by!

Very pretty! Could you tell me a little more about the star? I know that it wasn't the focus of the post, but I really like it!
  • Where is the pic of the finished product? I do not see it here.
