Make Drinking Glasses From Recycled Wine Bottles

I had been gathering bottles for a couple of months. One thing I wish I had done right away was remove the labels.
This was truly the hardest, and most frustrating part of the project. I'll save you some trouble. Use turpentine, it was the only thing that worked well for me.
You need this inexpensive tool to cut the bottles. I may take one or two tries to get it right so make sure you practice on a couple of bottles that you don't care about.
This just might be one of my favorite projects. I would definitely try this one again. To see the full tutorial and step by step instructions click on the link below.

How do you polish the edge?

You did sand off the edges, right? You know, just to knock off the incredibly tiny glass slivers you don't need to drink. Just a safety thing...highly recommended by most glass workers. Otherwise, you did a lovely job!

No question--just a comment. There are no little tiny pieces or slivers of any kind using this type of bottle cutter. ( i bought mine at Hobby Lobby!) It is absolutely amazing! I sanded the tops of my creations by hand just because that is the kind of person I am.

You really need to sand the cut edges using successively finer grade sandpaper. Wet-and-dry works best and gives a nice finish to the edge. It's too dangerous not to finish the edge no matter the use as they are REALLY sharp.
