2015 Christmas Mantel
I chose a 'Festival of Trees' theme for my Christmas mantel this year. I love the concept of groups organizing a gala of trees to raise money for charity and wanted to embrace the idea on our fireplace.
Our mantel is very long and can be a challenge to decorate without going overboard. There is a fine line between too much and not enough. Over the years, I have learned that balance and proportion is key.
I DIY'd this trio of trees from wood shims varying the size, shapes and patterns to give them each a unique look.
The dumbwaiter side of the fireplace is filled with a gathering of simple objects to quietly reflect the main side of the mantel.
