DIY Builder-Grade Kitchen Island Upgrade

Lost & Found
by Lost & Found
Updating an entire set of kitchen cabinets can be a daunting task. If an entire cabinet remodel seems a little overwhelming, why not try upgrading just the island? I was able to completely make over the look of this kitchen island for under $150 with no power tools required.
The plan was to add style by installing a custom baseboard, faux "legs" and picture frame molding, finishing it out with sleek, black paint.
With the custom molding and sleek, black finish, the island now has the feel of custom, built-in cabinetry. Upgrading just this one part made the whole kitchen look more stylish and higher end. And all for under $150!!

This is beautiful, you did a great job. I've never heard of fusion paint, where do you buy it and what are the differences between latex paint and fusion paint?

I really like how the dark color compliments the other cabinets. But, I think the legs ate upside-down?

I'm in love with this. I'll be doing it one day. I think I'll add legs to the cabinets, as well, making them look more like actual furniture.

It looks like a completely different island and I definitely will copy this except I may go a different very dark color. Well done!
