BUGS? Here's My Home Remedy!

See that small black speck...about 2/16 of an inch? Well, it is a "flour weevil" that I had to google to find out what it was. We are fortunate to be in an old house that the pest control treated for years with chemicals so we have been blessed with almost no bugs. But this year we are inundated with these things. Learned they mainly come in dog treats. I did have some get lost in the pantry and go bad...and have had these since.
You have to put bay leaves around to get rid of them. I bought bay leaves, but there were only about a dozen leaves in a $4 can! So I googled bulk bay leaves and just ordered a pound of them (up to 30 cups) for $7.00 plus 15.50 priority mail shipping...$22.50. But I want enough to put all around my pantries and in all my non canned foodstuffs. You can keep them and store them in jars with tightly closed lids. I have the jars to keep them. BTW, my sister has kept dried beans out of her garden for years with bay leaves in them and has no bugs!
I ordered from Monterey Bay Spice Company. They have organic and Kosher supplies!
I do hope bay leaves are the answer. I also learned they will repel roaches too..but even if we don't have roaches, it won't hurt to have a preventive!

UPDATE: Our numbers have drastically reduced. I hope these last few are one that were already around and we are about to get rid of them.

I put a piece of Spearmint gum in my flour, sugar, etc. and it works beautifully. Keeps all bugs out and it's cheap. I change it about once a month.
