A Headboard Bench with a Story to Tell

Headboard bench tutorials are all over the internet... in fact, I had to consult several during the course of this project! This project was a first for me and left me a little nervous. A friend of mine trusted me to build a bench from a bed that once belonged to her grandmother. It marked the first time I've had to build something for a client first and then paint the finished piece. Thanks to several wonderful tutorials and a very patient DIY blogging buddy, I figured it out and created a beautiful bench with a story to tell and a special meaning to my friend and her family. More before and after pictures and the full story are on my blog!

I LOVE THIS! My son's (now 37) left his antique bed home.IT is Maple with the cannon balls (that is what we called them, but it just like this, color different) on the end just like the bed above..He doesn't want it and I don't want to get rid of it..Can someone tell me how to do this for my son's bed? does anyone have any instructions? I would love to make it into something like this and keep it..Either his sister will want it or his spouse..Either way it will be a win, win..Got any IDEAS what to do with a authentic Civil War Iron Bed.???.skinny iron, not the big think ones..but it is a original...my daughter doesn't want it..I don't what is wrong with kids, that don't want a piece of history. Thank you for help with this..thank you Victoria
