A very plain, uninspired, (and rather junky) kitchen bookshelf becomes a bold statement after one simply DIY fix....
A simple white bookshelf dramatically changes with some black paint
I drilled a hole through the back so the lamp cord could drop out of site.
white on black. Most of the white items on the shelves came from Goodwill. A few dollars at most.

Ever look at a before picture with complete embarrassment ? yup! I just kept shoving stuff in that bookshelf that I really didn't have any other spot for.
