Gender Neutral Kid's Bedroom

My 6 year old daughter LOVES animals and she's not a big fan of super girly things, like pink and purple. So, when we set out to makeover her room, we decided on neutral colors and fun patterns.
The room started off a very drab blue color. Luckily the ceiling was a perfect khaki color already and the trim was all painted a crisp, fresh white. Added a few boxes to the wall as more shelf space.
Our first order of business was adding this amazing fabric to the far wall opposite the door. We also removed the HUGE, broken ceiling fan that was swallowing up this room. And added this lovely thrift store find.

I added art work and hung some fun shelves with raw wood and leather cording. I also recovered a little chair in the same fabric as the wall.
To add light and texture we added a lamp and some fun patterned textiles to the bed. To see many more photos and details you can head over to the blog (link below) to see it all!

What did you do with the edges of the fabric you put on the walls and how did you attach it?

I'd love the details of hanging the fabric.. which is just perfect by the way.. lovely result, but I'm curious about the edges too.. did you fold under and staple? Put a slat border around it? I looked at the blog and didn't see.. .but I might have have missed it.

Fabric can be added to walls, using liquid starch as "wallpaper paste". If you get bored just peel it off. This was a trick from the 70s!

@Kaytedec I used to use liquid starch to paste wallpaper on my walls when I lived in apartments and rental houses due to restrictions. It worked perfectly and just peeled right off without leaving a mess. This is also a great use for people who like to change décor color frequently.

Fabulous!! That patterned material is spectacular. Love the extra touches in the chair and bed linen, and changing out the light fixture is perfect! Love the bedside lamp, it ties in perfectly with the headboard and window frame. Thanks for the inspiration...I need to get busy on my own room!
