Creating a Xeriscape Garden

With rain in short supply here in Texas, we decided to not replace dead grass. Instead, we created a xeriscape garden.
It only takes a few feature plants to make a xeriscape garden look right.
We also used decomposed (or crushed) granite for mulch.

This looks great! My husband and I are tired of the brutal Texas Summers killing our grass and are considering some form of xeriscaping that can handle the freezes we get in the Winter. Thanks for the ideas!

That is exactly why we are doing this. Our Austin water bill was hovering around $200. It just seemed unsustainable to continue down that path.
