I am considering piroutte shades. Has anyone had any experience with them? Good deal? Blind salesperson pitched them instead of plantation shutters, said plantation a double set of shutters would sag!

  • Melissa, Pirouette shades are new, they control light differently when compared to the plantation shutter, because of the fabric integration into the shades. They also look more sophisticated when compared to conventional shading. The sales guy is pitching it because he needs to make a sale and has a goal for this month. I agree plantation shutter can sag sometimes, but you should make a decision based on price and requirement. Which room are you planning on using this? See if this really works for you and your home and then make a decision. Here is a review from a person who installed it at a client's home - http://blog.kemplerdesign.com/?p=38

Thank you, Yamini for the information. It was very helpful. We are considering either the Pirouette or Plantation shutters for the kitchen, LR, DR, and a new addtion to our home. The video was great also. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
  • Anytime Melissa, Love to help Hometalkers! I am glad you found the info useful. Post pics after you install the Pirouette's because people can learn about them from your post. Good Luck!
  • I am in the window treatment business in Atlanta. Sagging is a very small issue. The Pirouette offers a totally different look...softer and can add more color to the room. If that appeals to you, that would be the basis of my decision...not sagging of a shutter.

Thanks, that it is good to know the sagging is not as big a problem as I was led to believe. I am going to see Pirouette shades installed before I make a decision. I appreciate your imput.

I guess I am alone in the love of Platation Shutters. I want them in my two front bedrooms. Even weirder in the fact that I only want them on the bottom half of my windows and Roman Shades covering the top halves. Both a stark white.
