DIY - Bookcase and Window Seat

We added a window seat and built in bookcases to our son's room. Our whole family (dog included) loves to sit here and read and watch out the window to see what happening in the front of our old farmhouse.

First we made made a frame for the built in bench. Before you do decide how big you want the seat. We knew we wanted the seat to stretch the length of our window.

Next up we framed the bookcases to go on either side of the window seat.

We chose to build the shelves a little off the floor to allow for baseboard to wrap around both. Once you have it all framed give it a couple coats of paint and make the cushion and decorate. Lastly, I added a padded cushion to the window seat to make it more comfortable for our family to sit on.
