We're in the process of transforming our kitchen on a budget to fit our style.
We painted cabinets, swapped out hardware, painted walls, installed new granite countertops, new zero radius sink and faucets, marble subway tile backsplash, removed vinyl and luan and opted for distressed bamboo when the old original wood floor didn't match up with the plywood addition, removed a pantry and installed a pot rack and French doors. We still need a stove backsplash, baseboards, DIY kitchen island and a larger refrigerator. This is our forever home and we love the change.

Lisa - Thanks! We're probably going to start with base cabinets. I don't have the skills to build from scratch but after looking at some online, I do think we have a little bit of a custom touch we'd like to incorporate with seating on one side.
How about starting with a white kitchen table, with a with a wood surface attached about 8 inches up, and build onto the top, to bring it to desired height? Black granite on top.
I really like the asthetics of your kitchen!
You have great vision!
