  • You are using the best method to clean. What you may want to do once the wall is dry and clean is to occasionally spray it with a weak bleach solution to lengthen the time between power washing. What is causing the mildew is shady area. If you can cut back some of the trees so you can get at least three hours of direct sun on the wall, that should be enough to prevent this from happening. Of course this is determined by the direction in which the wall is facing.

The green is most likely an algal or moss growth of some kind...this needs moisture and light. You may be able to find a paint that will reduce the effects. I know that the "bottom" paints used on boats contain copper which reduces the growth and 'fouling" that occurs. Copper is also used to prevent moss from growing on roofs. http://www.networx.com/article/roofing-rx-treatment-for-a-mossy-roof Some copper flashing along the top of this wall may offer some protection as it does in some roof applications

Try using a product called Wet & Forget, you can find it at most hardware & even Wal-Mart carries it.
