Decorative dog food container

Question

I'm looking for (to make or purchase) a dog food container for inside my house. It needs to hold 40 lbs of dog food and to be mouse proof. I'm currently using a plastic storage container. It looks tacky (no space to hide it in a cupboard). It does keep the mice out but not the dogs!

I use a Rubbermaid 48gal. garbage can and I've used the same one for over 20yrs.

We have a bin that I purchased at Big Lots 6-7 years ago that looks like a vintage garbage can (with lid) it keeps the food fresh but only holds the 20 # bags. Check pinterest for some ideas.

I bought 3 thick plastic 'shelf' containers that are deep with a lid attahed, that faces toward you. One holds approx. 30 lbs. of Royal Canin Shepard dog food, large chunks, one holds 40 lbs. of bird food, and the other holds 20 lbs. of bird food too. No critters can get in, and they stack on top of each other making storage a breeze. Think I bought them on Amazon.

Years ago, I saw a TV show where they used one of the large garbage cans to store blankets. They used a round disk tabletop on top and then covered it with a pretty round tablecloth.

I have the bottom of an old kitchen queen with 2 pull out bins. (One bin was for sugar the other was for flour.) These two pull out bins hold 40# of dog food.

I saw on a blog one time where a lady painted a galvinized trash can to hold her dog's 50 lb bag. She painted the outside only and still used the bag to hold the food, but placed the bag inside the can so it was concealed. I use airtight containers and have them inside our pantry. They hold our 56 lb bag of food.
