Trash picked chairs advice

Couldn't pass these up even though I'm not sure where they'll go. They may be too large for my breakfast nook. I was thinking of upholstering the back and using them in my "not so formal" dining room with an oak table with black base. Any thoughts out there? TIA

I would definately cover the backs of the chairs for comfort. I cannot tell what the bottoms are wood or fabric, however I would also do the bottoms as well to blend with the look of your table.

Lots of ideas come to mind...but it would be really helpful if we could see your breakfast nook and the table you intend to use it with, as well as a few leads for us as to your preferred style. There's a coffee shop in our town that has these exact chairs. :-)

The bottoms are fabric and really need new covers plus 1 is missing a seat (remember, trash picked LOL). I'll see if I can get some pictures tomorrow in the light. Thanks

How about putting them side by side, removing the existing seats, and putting some aged wooden planks over the both of them. Like a bench seat?

I was going to suggest the bench idea also! Just saw one this morning and I can't WAIT to go on the hunt for chairs!!

I would take advantage of the imprint of the coffee sign. Take off the seat and paint the whole thing a light color. I would make the coffee depression on the back of the chair stand out by painting it black or another contrasting color. Cover the seat with fabric in a coffee design you can find at most fabric stores.

@Gramzie2 I agree. The coffee cup gives the chair character. It would be a shame to cover it up.

It is the coffee cup design is the only thing that makes them unique and interesting. That has to be the highlight and saved. Surely some kind of mocha and cream tones on the seats would be appropriate or using a retro color on the cup and seats..

I saw on Pinterest at www.shoppeno5.com I think it is the second pic. Worth a look.

The chair that is missing the seat base, just needs to have a new new one made. I would let these chairs become a conversational pieces for your dining room, by reupholstery the seat with a lively piece of fabric, then pull a color from the fabric and paint the wood, and finally paint the engraved steaming cup of coffee gold.

I would definitely cover the back & recover the seats. I think they would be great for dining chairs.

oR, LIKE MANY HAVE DONE, MAKE A BENCH OUT OF THEM. JUST BROWSE THROUGH PINTEREST OF HERE ON HOMETALK.

If you recover the seat, you could also decoupage a piece, on the back. (Cut to cover the whole back piece, of course.) It would highlight the coffee cup nicely, esp. if you paint the black.

I like the coffee cup and steam on back of chair. If mine, I wouldn't cover up that part. Just a personal thought.

I think the seats would look great if you had a nice piece of wood cut, and stained, and got a small table and made a nice little seating area for coffee, etc. Not sure what the cost would be, but I like that sort of look for these. The back is simple, but nice, so I'd keep that as it is, and having two matching chairs, it would make a nice set, to keep or sell.

Cover the coffee cup? NOOoo that's its personality! It needs some cleaning, maybe spray paint. Find a new, pretty print, maybe with turquoise in it for the seat cushions.

I love the bench idea. I found one chair in my alley --- too bad they didn't throw out two.
