This is wonderful, and a great idea. Since all cats like boxes, it's a great project. I wonder if you can help with a little problem we have. A feral cat who's been living in a field across the road from us, for a few years, has been coming through our cat door for a long time, to eat and drink, but we can't adopt him, because we have 3 who already hate each other, and my daughter had to move back home for a while, and has two! She and her boy friend are so nuts about cats, they started petting him, so he started hanging out on our porch, but she stopped interacting when he bit her quite badly. Then, one very cold night, he was in the mud room and I tried to push him into one of the boxes we have in there for our cats, when they are out, I scared him so much though, that he bit me, even worse, and I still have some deep scars......................................... SO! When the temps dropped below the 30s, my husband and daughter made a styrofoam shelter, lined with a pillowcase full of shredded paper (as they advise on the computer). Problem is, he doesn't appear to have used it yet and it's been a week. My husband made the entrance pretty small and glued a 'baffle' inside to keep the wind out and it seems cozy enough, but we now think the hole is too small and he may be scared to get trapped. Question, then, do you know a formula for the size of the entrance, relative to the size of the cat?
