Hallway Makeover + Hallway Paint Idea

I believe hallways are the perfect place to try out some new paint techniques. Whether it's an accent wall, new color or both, it can transform your boring, bland hallway into a place you love to travel through.

About a year ago I gave that hallway some zest with a stencil. While I loved the interest it brought to the space, I quickly grew tired of it and wanted something more modern to match our taste.

Our upstairs hallway has 7 doorways, but still provides enough wall space to make a statement. When we moved in, we painted it in the boring beige color we put in the living room (which has since been painted over), foyer and stairway.

Enter some new paint. I covered all the walls and stencil with 2 coats of white paint (untinted, in matte) and taped off a wide stripe. Since I was going to paint a darker color for the stripe, I primed it first with a gray-tinted primer. This goes super quick when you only have a small space to tape!

Then came the color! This is Galapagos by Behr Paint in matte. I prefer flat or matte paint sheen in my house since the walls are plaster and it hides imperfections. I put on 2 coats of the color.

Of course we couldn't be without new art for the walls too, so I put up some items we had around the house. It gave the hallway such a fresh look!

What a great idea! Not only the blue color which is gorgeous by the way, but the hallway also looks bigger and brighter.
