    That's a good question Stephanie. I haven't used my table too much yet, but the wax is the key to protecting it. From what I understand, if you apply the wax correctly, it won't show wear and tear easily. I've heard of people using too much wax and their kids played with their toys on it and the wax ended up getting 'indented' which showed. But if you wax and buff properly, it sets the chalk paint and that should protect it.
