Laundry "Thankful" Sign (Trash to Treasure Makeover)

I found this old coat rack/wall hanging at the thrift store for $8 and decided to turn it into a brand new sign for my laundry room.
It started out a little "rustic" for my tastes but with a little paint and some lettering it became perfect for the space!
Easy and inexpensive decor for my home.
Rustic log cabin decor, perhaps?
I gave it a spray of black underneath (to pull through later) followed by pure white.

(I painted right over the image, it was attached very well so didn't bother with the mess of removing it)
I distressed a bit with fine sandpaper to bring the black through the white a bit.

(to give it a bit of a worn look) Next I hand painted in the transferred lettering with black paint. Then I gave it a light sanding as well. Just enough to soften the edges somewhat.

I love the saying and what it means to me! :)
