Ive seen people use a green kitchen scrubbie...and leave nasty green marks. I use a simple white t-shirt type rag and minimal amounts of cleaner...mostly a plain water cleaning is enough

First vacuum or dry wipe walls to dust and remove obvious dirt, webs, etc. Always start at the bottom. Working in areas of 2 ft. by 2 ft. with a wet rag work in circles. Keep folding and use a clean area of the rag. Once the area is to your satisfation, wipe with clear water. The reason you star at the bottom is, as you wash the top cleaner is running down the wall giving you streaks. Also you may be getting streaks due to needing to use clear water to wipe away cleanser as you wash. Wiping away the dirty water before it drys with clear water
