Nantucket Green Nightstand

I know that there are very strong opinions on painting furniture and I feel the need to preface this project with a few words. These nightstands were part of the first bedroom furniture we bought when we were married. They made it through multiple moves, including an international one, many scratches, dings, and water damage, and, to be honest, we just wanted to add in some color to our guest room. We love the shape and style, but it was time to update them.
I decided to paint them with General Finishes Chalk Style paint in Nantucket Green. My ultimate goal for this room is an "English Cottage" feel and this was the perfect color.
Two coats of paint and some clear wax later, and I was absolutely in love!
I aged the handles with Modern Masters' Metal Effects and put some of my favorite Wallternatives wallpaper inside.
I am so happy with how my nightstands turned out. They are a fantastic first step to creating the room I want.

  • Don't feel bad for painting wood furniture. There are so many pieces just collecting dust in people's basements because they don't fit into their decor but have sentimental meaning. Go for it and enjoy it! I do.

LOVE! Paint is temporary ;) no need to feel badly! Besides, furniture has been painted since BEFORE the 13th century. ;) It's not a trend, it' here to stay!
