From Fishing Tackle Box to Kitchen Island

There’s just enough space in our tiny little round house for a kitchen island, but there’s no way I’m paying so much money for one – have you seen the prices? It’s ridiculous!! So we made our own.
Kitchen island from a re-purposed fishing box
Yup, we took a fishing tackle box, an old office cabinet and turned it into a kitchen island for our tiny little house by the sea. Even our cats thought we were mad.

Before - all the bits
This is what we started with. A beautiful old fishing tackle box with tons of little storage compartments and a really sad office cabinet with no handles and a very wonky door.
After - our new kitchen island
And this is what we made. We stripped and sanded. And then we sanded some more. Filled in lots of holes, fixed that wonky door and added new hardware and some wheels. My cuz made us the forken handle and the beautiful graphic on the back is from the Graphics Fairy.
So much hidden storage
