It is a true education to hear everyone's opinions. -
It looks great but for my house, NEVER. Grandchildren, dogs, cats and a husband that does blacktop for a living. Need I say more. -
To hard to keep clean. -
Achieving a successful white decorating scheme isn't as easy as it looks. There are SO many shades of white - blue, grey, eggshell and so on. No color exists in isolation; it is constantly affected by lighting and the colors around it. White is particularly hard to 'match' so that the sofa slipcovers don't look dirty against the walls or the mat on a painting or print doesn't look blue. Also, an all white room on a cloudy day, tends to look very grey. If you're comfortable with that idea, I'd say go for it. If you don't like it, paint is CHEAP! -
Reminds me of look but don't touch. Not very inviting looking. -
yes beautiful. -
I love it, so clean looking. Can put pops of color with it. I love to see cobalt blue and aqua pillows on the sofa with all the white. -
It is evident from these comments that you either like white or you do not, no middle ground! -
Yep...that is a pretty fair statement. That is why some home sell faster than others...it needs to be the match with the homeowner and the home. -
I love the look of all white! It's makes me feel happy and makes the home look clean. -
Nope, I like earth colors, sage green, tans, creams and browns. Too much white washes everything out and looks too sterile to me. Too modern for me. -
Jan, while white is the trend, I agree.. I need color. -
Too many rentals in my past, I have a mortgage now and different colors eveywhere! True, if we sell we'll have to depersonalize it but thats a long way off. White is beautiful, but I gotta have color and lots of it -
Love,Love, Love! You can always add color to a room with accents, an wall art. -
I like the look, but it never fails to amaze me that there re so many self stylist decorators out here who feel the need to add their own opinion about what is style- like or don't like but keep your own decorating ideas out of the mix unless it is something you have done and are asking for an opinion -
I don't care for the white on white look. -
not at all..... too hospital like... and the dust and dirt would drive me nuts..I can already smell the pinesol just by looking at this... lol -
I decided to do an all white living room back in the 70's (crazy or ahead of the fad?). Recarpeted in a beautiful white shag (hey, it was the 70's), purchased two gorgeous chairs and a beautiful white sofa. They were delivered, un-packaged and I stood back and oooohed and aaaaahed. My 1 1/2 year old woke up from his nap, I brought him downstairs, got him a bottle of juice. He promptly threw the bottle and it flipped over the dining room railing into the sunken living room and promptly ...» -
Lol! loved your story. -
Wow, Patricia G., that's a bit harsh. I like to see others' opinions about style, their own experiences, their ideas. If these threads only had, "I like it..", or "I don't like it.", the page wouldn't be worth reading! Some of the most lovely rooms I've seen have been done by those who are self-styled. -
I would add a wood coffee table to soften the look. Color can be added with pillows and such. I love this look so fresh. -
Also, the white built ins.... love love love -
I really like white because it forces me to see the dirt. My only exception is white carpet. Mine looks good because the room is NEVER used, barely looked at and a big mistake. The rest of the white in my home can be easily cleaned and looks good - I planned it that way = EXCEPT for the white carpet installed years later. -
I love the trend ... but not the combination of the trend with my puppies paws. :) -
White is growing on me, but it is high maintenance.
