Do you mind if I share a few photos of a mid century modern bathroom we remodeled?

The original bathroom had served this home well for fifty years, but now the owners were ready to bring new life to this modern bathroom of the 50s.

We installed a new tub and complemented it with the glass subway tile that comes out into the room to give the entire room a modern feel.

The original bathroom had a cross reed glass window so we decided to honor that with this cross reed glass block.

The subway tile looks great, especially with those shiny fixtures.

I love subway tile laid that way so it establishes a strong grid.

Nice, clean lines. Really like the way the grids of each type of product used reflects off each other.

Not busy at all... just very CLASSY!

We have a teal and pink 1950s bathroom ready for a redo too! I have two questions about your remodel (which looks great by the way!) 1) How do you like the glass block? I'm not sure I want to go that direction, but it's one of our options. Right now we have glass that had some sort of film put on it, but it looks terrible. I really don't like the look of frosted glass. We are thinking about a textured glass window (I like the "rain" finish, but not sure it's enough privacy) or glass ...»
block. I'd love your opinion since you did the block. 2) I like the look of the glass enclosure vs. shower curtain. We still have young kids that take baths and might have one more child. How difficult do you think it is to give kids baths with the glass? Thanks!!

The rain glass on the window would work out great. We did another Mid century modern bathroom remodel where we did cross reed glass instead of the glass block. I think I like the glass instead of the block.

As far as kids in the tub,I think you may be better off with a curtin untill they get bigger.

    Thanks for your questions.

Jessica, as someone with a pink 1960 Florida bathroom, I say: Embrace that pink and teal!

For good ideas about keeping it, see: http://retrorenovation.com/
