Just cut off the bottom of a stalk of celery, put bottom side down in a bowl with some warm water.

Then after a day or so scoop out a shallow depression wherever you want to plant it, pour water from bowl into well then place celery in it, pull dirt up around sides. This picture is about a week after I planted in the dirt.
