Calcium Carbonate2 parts paint1 part Calcium Carbonate Calcium carbonate is lime...actually edible lime. You can order it from the drug store, or online. Cheap! Plaster of Paris Recipe3 parts Paint1 part Plaster of ParisWater to mix I use hot water to mix mine. I have purchased a lot of chalk paint and made my own. I now make all of mine and I use these recipes.I want to give credit to the blogger that posted them. She also had several other recipes. This is as close to mine recipe that I could find. It is a good start.http://salvagedinspirations.com/best-homemade-chalk-paint-recipes/ This is the recipe I use for wax. I also make my own aging wax. Ingredients3-5 parts Roman Beeswax Polish1 part PigmentI buy pigment from the art store, or online. I sometimes buy a pigment color pencil. It crumbles easily. It's not pure but pretty darn close. I don't use paint to color my wax because it discolor and fades.I will also post the link. I have used these recipes over and over also the gesso paint recipes and lime wash. This is a wonderful sight if you want recipes for paint. Chalk paint isn't new. It is as old as dirt, pun intended!http://www.earthpigments.com/finishes/gesso-chalk-paint-for-furniture.cfm At the top of the page they have recipes click on it to find everything you need!

After I paint with chalk paint, I go over it with chalk. Back and forth, up and down which ever way you want to do it. I was told this sets the paint and I have not had any problems with it coming off.
