Love in a Mug DIY Sharpie Craft

My kids and I are addicted to pens, and we just love Sharpies. They're fun to draw with, and they're awesome for crafting, as well. With Valentine's say coming up, we thought it would be fun to make decorated coffee cups and fill them with chocolate.
We made a similar project last year, but this year, we wanted to do something a little different. It was actually my daughter's idea to call it "love in a mug", but for chocolate lovers, the name makes complete sense.

We started out with a plain white coffee cup, some Sharpie oil-based markers and chocolate hearts
It's important to buy the oil-based markers and not the water-based one. You want the design to hold up when you wash it, especially if you're going to use the dishwasher.

We took turns drawing small red and white hearts all over the mug. Then we baked them in a 300-degree oven for about 30 minutes. This just helps the design to set in and prevents fading.
Then, we filled the mugs with wrapped chocolate candies, and now they're ready to give as gifts! These are perfect for coffee, tea or cocoa, or you can also use them to hold plants or just for decoration!
