My husband and I bought our home in 2013. It's a 1970's walkout ranch (that has seen little updates in it's life) located in the middle of a beautiful forest in northern lower Michigan. We liked the potential and character of the home even though we knew we were in for a lot of work to bring it into the new century. We started with the room that needed our attention the worst - the bathroom!
Harvest Gold, well-used and worn out.
Harvest Gold AND Avocado Green!! It doesn't get any better :)
We took it all down to studs (note the dark real-wood paneling) and stole 3 feet from the living room to give us the space we wanted...
...and Voila!! Fast forward 1 1/2 years later (that's what free labor buys you) we can finally say it's finished.
The whole house is finished in the dark wood paneling, and it's beautiful, albeit too much of a good thing. My thought was to cut the paneling down to chair rail height and add drywall to modernize the design. I like the way it turned out.
We opted for a walk-in shower and I found this porcelain tile that looked just like weathered barn wood that I fell in love with.
We moved plumbing to accommodate the new layout.
Because we live in the middle of the woods, natural light is hard to come by, so in addition to being part of the design scheme, the tin tile ceiling helps reflect light into the space. The small square footage of the bathroom was a bonus in keeping the cost down.
We added drawer storage and decorative shelving.

Wonderful Reno! Did you hire the plumber or do it yourselves? 😊

Beauty!!!!! Harvest gold and avocado green - remember it well. Still have my avocado fridge and stove in basement and a set of harvest gold pots and pans! When I did some minor updates in my kitchen, I almost brought up the fridge and stove to fit the decor! However, they are energy hogs so I went with stainless.
