I have an older entertainment center with a small shelf above my new style TV, and I want a shelf about it to contain my VCR-DVD.

If you need a bigger shelf, you can go to your local building supply place and have them cut a piece of 1/2 or 3/4 inch plywood to the right size. Then you can paint or cover it if you want.

We also have an older cherry entertainment center that I love and won't part with. We found a monitor stand that was just wide enough to fit our entertainment center for around $20.00. We put the TV on the stand and slide our dvd and satellite dish box under it. This way we didn't have to drill holes in our vintage furniture but could accomodate the newer electronics needed for the flat screen TV's. I did sand and restain the wood monitor stand to try and match our entertainment center as closely as possible. No one has noticed any difference.

Could you build the shelf UNDER the TV? The TV would sit on the new shelf and you could brace it in the center with a divider board making 2 compartments. Not sure of your dimensions, but that is how mine is built.

Thanks I like the idea of not wanting to drill holes in my entertainment center... There is a slot top side for VCR but it is to small for my VCR and DVD combo I am old school not in to newer gadgets did break down and get the new T.V. Jury is out on that ..Thanks for the ideas..... I do appreciate. that. since TV is not heavy making a shelf for it and putting VCR under neat and not destroy beautiful wood.. thanks guys..
