Guest room/Grandsons room

I need ideas in decorating a bedroom that will be my four year old grandsons when he stays over and can be a guest room when we have guests. The room will have a full size bed and has corner window seats with storage.

The fact that you have the corner storage is wonderful as it will provide hidden storage for your grandson's toys. The difficulty will be making the room appropriate for the four year old as well as adult guests. I would suggest using solid color bedding that is machine washable as it would easily transform the room for both age groups. A nice way to make the room reflect the personality of your grandson but still be appropriate for adult guests would be to display your grandson's artwork in frames. You can easily make the hinged frames that allow for you to easily change out the artwork or purchase them. You could also decorate the walls with framed fabric placed on art canvas or corkboard. Both of these could have ribbons placed on them for placement of pictures if that is something you would enjoy. There is also the family tree picture display that would be appropriate for both age groups. I hope this gives you some ideas.

A simple way that I have found effective is to use the things my grandchildren are comfortable with. When My granddaughter is here I place a few of her favorite stuffed animals on the bed so that she has familiar "friends" when she comes to visit. I also change out bedside reading materials to kids books rather than adult material. I place her framed picture on the dresser (along with those of her sister and cousin) and for fun, I place a few toys or games she enjoys on the window seat. Easy. I also keep a set of drawers for each grand childs "Grandma's house clothes" so it feels like their own. It's a start so that you can personalize these tings in your home...hope it was helpful!
