Chalkboard Hiding Part of Your Message...keep the Family Guessing!

I'm part of a project challenge group this year. Each month we make something with an object. This month the object was spindles, trim or molding. I have a strange obsession with spindles and have made many DIY projects using old spindles. We project are having fun with this project.
The chalkboard slides up revealing the message through a window. Mike and I are taking turns guess what each others message says.
With basic tools this project is not hard to made.
Yes, I even added my favorite material..burlap. I spent $4 for a piece of MDF. Everything else I had on hand.
The MDF boards cut and painted. A split spindle, square trim and burlap are the pieces for this interactive chalkboard.
This is the front piece with square trim around three sides. I used wood glue to hold everything together.
The back was glue on and a strip of burlap covers the edge to hide the layers. Plus it adds a bit of farmhouse style.
The spindle was screwed to the top of the chalkboard piece.
Here's the sliding message chalkboard finished. We grab the spindle and slide the chalkboard up to reveal our messages. The chalkboard slides completely out to write new messages.
