My sweetie has nice a set up for her crafting and miniature work. Aside from the main work bench, we have a wire shelving unit that can hold bulky items, we also use small plastic totes to sort materials and supplies. Really small items are stored in a "Nuts and Bolts" type drawer unit on the work bench itself.

I've been collecting everything I can find or recycle: cans and using colored/patterned duck tape especially around the cut edge, baskets, decorative boxes I have and find, liquor store (free) boxes decorated and covered with wrapping paper, decoupage with pictures, scraps of paper, etc, jars, decorative jars, coffee cans.... I'm in the process too of putting the room together or I'd post a pic...good luck!

Save everything from your cupboards, soup cans, coffee cans, boxed or plastic containers and go the the scrapbook section of Walmart or Target and find corresponding scrapbook paper, acrylic paint, ribbons etc for giving it a cohesive theme, organize your supplies by laying all like items together so you can see if you need a box (for paper) or a can (for scissors or pens) etc then you can decide what size or how many containers are needed. You can find really cheap shelves on Craigslist some are even under the Free category (people just looking for someone to pick them up and get them out of their way), you can spray or latex paint the shelves for a more cohesive look.

I have found most of my craft room essentials, except paper, ink, stamps, at yard sales or consignment stores. I have several of the plastic drawers...I think there's 5 or 6 drawers in them, that I found at consignment store. I also store ribbon in plastic bin, with ends of ribbon coming out one of the holes in the bin, which came from a dollar store. I found an awesome holder for all of my stamp pads...also consignment. Most of my $ goes towards stamps and paper. I shop around to stock my craft room. I also save my coffee containers and use for storage. They are plastic and have lids. I saw where someone uses a shoe box, uses toilet paper rolls, upright, filled with different kinds of pens, etc. I hope this helps you somewhat.

This isn't the best picture but.....I bought 2 white cabinets at Home Depot (12" square, open front & back). Stacked them together, put a heavy duty lazy susan on bottom. Peg board on back. All the shelves have drawer bins to store tons of little stuff. Pegboard has my quilting rulers & with added small shelves on both sides with dowel pegs for thread storage. Takes up very little room.

use anything like cans (spray paint), mason jars, shoe boxes, etc. They have some nice containers at the dollar stores if you can buy them. Find cheap stuff at thrift and resale shops as well (baskets, bookcases, etc.). Have fun!

I saved the boxes from my laundry detergent and covered them with contact paper. I left the flip top lid and handles on. I coordinated the paper with the room to make them attractive and stronger. Could try it with other paper and glue it on. Maybe try newspaper, wall paper, or scrapbook paper.
