I love using Unicorn SPiT. It is so versatile, easy to use and very forgiving if you mess up. Plus it is not toxic all natural and smells like Jasmine. Well worth the money because you can use it on wood, tile, glass, metal, canvas and fabric.

Unicorn SPiT is totally addictive! It's not a paint - it is a gel stain, paint and a glaze. It is super versatile and can be used on literally any surface! Try it, you will love it. It smells like Jasmine, so it is is fun and relaxing to work with! No harsh chemical or paint smells! And you can finger paint with it. Use your hands, a brush a rag, whatever just get it on the surface and move it around. It is water based and you do need to seal it with an oil based product. 100% pure Tung oil will dry non-toxic as well. Hop on over to http://unicornspit.com and buy some SPIT! You'll be glad you did!

It's a gel stain. Can be used full strength or diluted. Brings out a 3D effect on wood after once coated with your choice of oil based finish and you can still see the wood grain. I've used it on a picture frame that I hated the color, and on my metal pelican. Next is canvas, then a picture frame and glass to be turned into a tray for my bathroom. Can't wait

Yup! I LOVE my Unicorn SPiT! It's a gel stain and glaze in one, not a paint. It's ALL NATURAL and safe/non-toxic. Give it a spin, you'll be HOOKED!

Yes! As a faux painter I can use Unicorn SPiT in more ways than any other stain or glazing product. I am also overjoyed that I don't have to deal with messy sealant wax ever again! I love the three- dimensional effect that SPiT has on wood grain once coated with tung oil.

I love the versatility unicorn spit has! The way it plays on the wood grain is my favorite! You can use it as a stain or a glaze. It goes on so many different surfaces! I love that it is non toxic and natural! I have every color, and I mix colors together to create new colors! Soon unicorn spit shimmer will be available! I believe it will be the first stain that has a shimmer! I can't be more happy with it. I am so glad I stumbled across it.

Is there a tutorial somewhere about how to get started? I have an old, dinged up cabinet that's all veneer, and I was going to chalk paint it, but I think SPiT would highlight the grain and look better.

I think Unicorn Spit is amazing. I have used it on canvas, glass, leather and wood...all with fantastic results. My 3 year old granddaughter and I do projects together with it all the time and her projects come out great too. It was created as an art therapy medium for the disabled, so it is easy to use, non-toxic, smells like Jasmine and can be applied by brush, cloth, foam brush, fingers...so many ways to use it. Used on bare wood it brings out the natural grain in a vibrant way and it looks amazing with 2 part epoxy over it.

I purchased my SPiT just under 6 months ago. I was in the middle of building a house. Let me tell ya. I LOVE IT! Every Room has been SPiT in. I have not found anything that I can't SPiT on. Stainless Steel, old Doors, new doors, painted doors, vases, glass, FRP, canvases, concrete, tables and I have taken it to work. I work with Adults that are Developmental Disabled and they love it. The Stain press is the favorite so far.

When you did metal doors do you have to paint them with chalk paint first? Were you able to do them while they were still hanging?

It's actually not paint.. Just sayin' :). But that's been said. It's a wood stain and glaze .. But yes you can paint with it. I love it! I agree with what others have said, it's amazing and acts different than any other product. Silly question since you have a ton of spit posters on Hometalk! Hehe

Is this product the result of using an oil base with a water base to create the effect?
    • Laurie Brennan Laurie Brennan on Jun 21, 2016
Unicorn SPiT is 100% water based. It requires an oil based top coat so that the product is not reactivated when top coating.
