Old Mail Sorter Gets Upcycled as an Phone Holder

Is organizing all of the iPhones and iPads in your house like herding cats? Today’s yard sale upcycle will take a sad, old mail sorter and give it a new life as an iPhone holder. This DIY is something anyone can do and only took about 5-10 minutes (not including drying time). You have to see the end result!
This is what it started as – your ordinary mail/bill sorter that everyone used back in the day. I love yard sale and estate sale finds! The second I saw this, I knew exactly what it’s new life would be.
First, it got a few coats of white spray paint. And then I used an adhesive stencil to paint our family initial. The “B” was lonely, so I used some painters tape and marked off a stripe to paint below it. A little bit bled through, but I knew that if I tried to fix it with white paint, it either wouldn’t match or I would then bleed the white into the blue stripe. Sometimes in life you have to say whatevs and call it done.
