How to make window treatments for basement windows

    Do you have pictures? Are you looking for soft decor options?

    usually windows in basements are not very long. I would suggest roman shades for this types of size configuration.

    Without pictures of the window and the surrounding area, it is hard to give advice. If you have concrete walls you can use a tension rod inside of the window to hold up your window treatment.

    I just had my basement refinished and the windows are small...I put up 84 inch panels and bought enough panels that the windows look 3 times the size they acually are!!! It looks fantastic!

    The common mistake made by many is that they feel the curtains have to remain true to the window size. That is a misconception. Most people don't use their basement windows for letting in light so here is an idea: Put up decorative rods that are mounted to be about at least a foot on either side of the actual window and buy drapes to cover from rod to about an inch or 2 above the floor. This gives the illusion that the windows are very large and no longer feels like a basement. Unless you ...»
    have nosy people that look behind your curtains no one will ever know the windows are itty-bitty. I applied dark tint to my window in the basement to not allow the natural light to give away my secret by showing a small light square through the drapes.. :)
