From Dark and Dingy to Fit for a Princess

This room was dark and dingy when we moved in. The brown walls were not helping out this already small room. It needed to be fit for a princess, our little princess that is, and we wanted this to be a where she could play.
Here is the before....
And here it is all brightened up! I used Benjamin Moore's Halo for the walls and their White Dove for the moldings. I love the light contrast these create. Since this room is so small I went with a day bed. Pushing it against this wall helped to open up the space even more.
This dresser was the inspiration for her room. I love the french legs and all the beautiful details.
My daughter is very much a princess, I wanted to make sure her personality was reflected in her room! I glittered some lace to make it look like a crown and I added a few other princess touches as well.
Pillows....LOTS and LOTS of pillows make for the perfect Daybed. You can see my full blog post here..

From the original dark, dark color, how & what did you do before putting on the much lighter color? I'm getting ready to do something similar.

Lovely room! Question about the dresser--looks like it's not very deep (front to back.) Is that just the picture, or did you have a lucky find? I love the way it's painted.
