Hello Victoria Head over to your local thrift stores. Usually if you donate something at Goodwill, they will give you a tax donation receipt and on the lower half of it is a coupon for 25% off your entire purchase. So, find some stuff to donate, drop it off and then go shop for your scarves! Also, they have days where certain color tags are discounted...check that out as well for extra discounts.

We have 'Savers' in the northeast. Similar to Good Will, but bigger, faster turnover, lots of 'specials', coupons, and credits for donating, as well as tax deduction. Also, church bazaars, tag sales, garage sales, flea markets, etc.

Is that the project? Just curious, I love it. I am addicted to scarves and have way to many but I cannot part with them. Yesterday at Walmart they have a huge clearancein scarves, hats, etc........ I went a little crazy!

I often make my own with just a gorgeous piece of fabric. Hemmed or frayed, or made in a tube. Not much to it. and cheaper than purchasing them.

Any recycling store would have them. In our town we have St. Vincents and also the Dollar Tree has some. Rummage sales are great for inexpensive finds.

If there's no big rush, wait for yard sales. They usually have the lowest prices of all.

Dollar Tree and the 99 Cent Store in California regularly carry these in solids, patterns, and often in holiday themes (for quick holiday decor I sometimes hang them like a festoon across the front of our mantel, sometimes with fairy lights under them).

If you don't have a local thrift store to frequent, you might try checking websites like wish.com - sometimes you can find big lots of them there. Or EBay.

If you can't find scarves ready made, you can make your own quite easily and inexpensively. Most fabric stores will sell 'samples' of as little as 1/8 of a yard wide. You could just look for discontinued fabrics, on sale fabrics etc. and make 'scarves' from that to the sizes you want. Walmart usually has a lot of fabric that's lightweight (like scarves) for about $2 a yard. You can get quite a lot of scarves out of wide material. Another option is to purchase inexpensive single panel sheer curtains and cut to the size you want. Of course like others have mentioned, thrift stores will usually have many to choose from.

Check and see if there is a local chapter of freecycle.org - it's a site where you offer and request items. There's no charge and it's a good way to also pass on those unwanted items you have that someone else can use. I've heard there are local Facebook pages for that same idea.
